Eng. Marión E. Castro

Teacher

Marión Castro was born in San Juan, Argentina, on August 1st, 1963. She graduated as a Civil Engineer from the National University of San Juan in 1993. She started working at IDIA as CONICET Fellow in 1994, since then she has been carrying out teaching and research activities.

She is part-time Assistant Professor in Earthquake Resistant Engineering, Structure Seismic Protection Systems and Structure Analysis Workshop Chairs of the Civil Engineering Department, and Computer Science and Numerical Methods Chairs of the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering, UNSJ.  She has been continuously working in research projects since 1996, being member and co-director of interdisciplinary research teams. She has trained human resources as fellows’ director. She has also been co-author of international publications.

Her professional background is mainly related to modelling studies and evaluation of the capacity of structural components of engineering works, particularly, in important buildings that represent a challenge because of the seismic feature of the area.  In addition, she is member of the Academic Review and Curricular Coordination Commissions in the Civil Engineer Career, UNSJ, and develops different tasks in university management.
